Vance's first year on The Daily Show [1999]

Vance started on The Daily Show [TDS] on January 14, 1999 as a replacement for the correspondents Brian Unger and A. Whitney Brown who left along with former host Craig Kilborn. His first story was about a guy who thought he could tell what the weather is going to be like next year by biting pig spleens. Everybody loved Vance from his very first story. (compared to Steve Carell and Mo Rocca who took months for the audience to love them, sorry but its true according to old TDS newsletter archives) Vance was mainly known in 1999 for his Tale of Survival stories about people overcoming odds such as kitties stuck in trees, BBQ Sauce exploding all over someone, and drunk guys being stuck in pizza place vents. As everyone here knows, Vance was on the daily show for two and a half years (January 14, 1999-May 17, 2001) and still maybe once a month I hear a "I miss Vance" still...

This is the only cap that I have of Vance's first story: (from the third anniversary show)

Ok, here's the thing. These aren't in order. I don't have the dates to barley any of my 1999 stuff because its all dubbed from friends' tapes. So I'm just going by ABC order of my filenames. Is that ok?

Vance apologizing over his "exploding toilets" story:

A preview for the story about a 'Bermuda Triangle' like road way in DC. (I don't have caps of the story)

The Tale of Survival about the lady who had "Thermonuclear" Barbeque Sauce explode on her. (September, 1999)

Beth and Vance Apologize - Sort of. March 22, 1999
