Things from Vance's first year on TDS (1999)

 I got this e-mail in September, 2000:

I just stumbled upon your site...

I met Vance Degeneres and Kahane Corn over a year ago, when The Daily Show
filmed a segment in my restaurant.  I had no idea who they were at the
time, as I hadn't seen the show; since then, I've become a fan.

If you're interested, I can email you some pictures I have - a couple of
the shoot, and a few of Vance posing with some of my staff members.

and I looked at the images at the site and a few days later I received more answers about it:
At 05:21 AM 9/26/00 EDT, you wrote:

it.

It was a "Tale Of Survival" story, which aired on 7/22/99.  The story was
about the mascot of the San Jose Sharks getting stuck in mid-air as he
repelled from the rafters of the Arena during a hockey game, and the
subsequent "rescue efforts" involved in saving the "fish out of water."

TDS staff wanted to get footage of live sharks for the segment, and at the
time I had two 3 foot nurse sharks in my aquarium at my store, so the Arena
staff sent TDS my way.

They spent about two hours filming in my restaurant, but only a few seconds
made it to the final cut.

>was Vance nice?

Yes, he was - and very professional.  Before they began shooting, Vance
asked me several questions and took notes, the way you would expect a real
journalist to do.
